Rick Schroder – Past to Present Day
I started my apprenticeship with Cole Giles Plumbing in Girraween Sydney NSW, and attended Granville TAFE College, in 1981. When recession hit the building industry in 1982, Steve Green the leading tradesman, and I found ourselves without employ. Two weeks later I was employed by Blue Mountains Plumbing Service where I completed my trade and post trade courses continuing to travel to Granville and later to Lithgow TAFE College. While I performed work on new construction, a lot of experience has been gained in the area of repairs and maintenance, restoration and extension work. It is fair to say at this point a lot of my early experience is contributed to a man named Robert James Lewis. This man acquired jobs just to show me how to do them and spent the time showing me. At 19 I had the privilege of travelling to Timor, where I undertook plumbing work for a Baptist Mission.
I have employed up to 7 men and have worked on large and small projects like,
- Hunter Valley Gardens.
- Honeysuckle Foreshore.
- Karuah Jetty Holiday Village Sewer Pumpout System.
- Cessnock Hockey Field Irrigation Systems.
- Home Water, Drainage, Stormwater Systems.
- Commercial Hot Water Systems and Commercial Gas Systems.
- and much more . . . .
I have also been known to assist people by traveling to Kempsey NSW, Sydney, The Blue Mountains and Lithgow. Rick’s Plumbing Service continue to serve clients in the Hunter Valley.
